Assoc. Prof. Dr. Robert Rybnicek (Deputy Head of the Institute)
Robert Rybnicek is Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship. His research focuses on cooperation and cooperative behaviour, investigating the decisive factors for successful corporate cooperation, incentive and motivation systems for employees and the optimization of stakeholder relationships. Together with researchers from other disciplines, he uses not only quantitative and qualitative surveys, but also economic experiments and neuroscientific methods. In addition to his work at the University of Graz, he teaches at the Medical University of Graz and has also worked as a managing director and supervisory board member in the private sector in the past.

Stakeholder management
Cooperation between companies has become increasingly important in recent decades. Nowadays, companies have to work with their business partners across different regions, cultures, political systems and time zones in order to bring competitive products to market. At the same time, the requirements of companies as employers have changed. Competition for highly qualified employees is intense, so companies are required to create good working conditions and a motivating working environment. Customers also have completely new requirements, which they can communicate via social media with a corresponding response. Good stakeholder management has therefore become an important component of successful business management. This research project examines ways in which relationships with stakeholders can be strategically managed and shaped.
Entrepreneurial opportunities
The identification of entrepreneurial opportunities is of central importance for the ability to innovate and for success in business. This research project investigates how different groups recognize and evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities. By applying an interdisciplinary approach, the study aims to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying cognitive processes in order to obtain a differentiated picture of why potential business opportunities are often perceived so differently. The findings should help to tailor business-critical information more effectively to the needs of certain target groups.
